The Tribute Equine Nutrition Hunter Derby had 22 entries. Max Muir and In Style led the field in the first round with a score 85.
Emily Reder and Namaste followed closely behind with an 83 and Christy Baxter on After the Rain had an 81 setting up for an exciting
second round which was the handy course. The judges brought back the top twelve horses in reverse order.
Easton Veremis on Esteban came back strong with a judges score of 79 but took advantage of the 4 option jumps and received
5 bonus points for a total of 88. The high score for the handy round belonged to Kayla Bean on Foreign Exchange with a judges
score of 78, 4 option points and 7 bonus points for an outstanding 89. Unfortunately, both Namaste and After the Rain both had major
faults in the handy but Liza Reid on Nel received an 85 and Danielle Duryea on Greycliffe received an 81 raising
them both up in the standings. The last horse to go was the leader In Style. Max decided to play it safe and scored a second round

| PONY CLUB at Far and Away Farm June 04, 2011 |
| Pony Club was a huge success this weekend ! We had 12 little girls who were all excited to learn about courses.
The girls each received a handout about how to read their “course” so they will be prepared at the horse shows.
They practiced being ponies and galloped around the ring doing each individual course and then rode the real ponies bareback.
We cooled off in the air condition and Jennifer served us a yummy snack so we would all be ready for our next adventure….Painting Jumps !!!
The girls all wore plastic bag togas to minimize the mess and we tackled painting our jumps for the indoor arena.
They did an excellent job and I hope you all enjoy the new jumps.
See you next month at Far and Away Farm Pony Club. |
